Hello Edmund,

You got it right first time - DNA biometric information should be with the police, not on an ID card for all and sundry to see. As with a recent news article on the BBC, the police are requesting volutary DNA testing of young adults in a small area to find the perpetrator of a crime. This is the correct way to do DNA testing. remember that the rights of the many must take precendence over the rights of the few.

There are more effective ways of doing what the government wants that is less open to abuse and the infringment of civil rights. Instead of introducing yet another (predicted financally and technically) botched system they should fix the existing system including better vetting of the sponging/malicious portion of asylum seekers, communication between police to the passport office, the DVLA, Jobcentre, DSS etc. The government have a habit of setting up new departments/services and then shutting them (e.g. recently):

There's plenty more failed IT projects too.....!
